Nketiah pays tribute to Arsenal

Eddie Nketiah paid a heartfelt tribute to Arsenal after completing his transfer to Crystal Palace, as he met a familiar face.

The post said: "Thank you @arsenal ❤️

"As I say goodbye, I want to take this time to say thank you to everyone at the club, from my team-mates to all the wonderful staff who have been a part of my journey and have made this place home for so many years.

"Working my way up from Hale End to the first team was a dream come true.

"It taught me what it means to play for the club and what a privilege it is to wear the shirt. I never took it for granted and gave my all every time I stepped on the pitch.

"From scoring my first senior goal against Norwich in 2017, to making over 100 appearances for Arsenal, I have made memories here I shall carry with me for the rest of my life.

"I’m grateful to have felt your support and I’ll cherish the memories we have made. Thank you Gooners. Eddie."

Havertz praises Arsenal team-mate

Kai Havertz has heaped praise on his captain Martin Odegaard and discussed the understanding he has built with the playmaker.

He told TNT Sports: “I think the connection with him was there from the first second, to be honest. I loved him always as a player, I used to watch him a lot, especially the season before I came to Arsenal, when we played them.

“He’s ridiculous in what he does, not only in the game but in training, it’s crazy, like, I don’t know, you follow him and he has the ball in front of you and he just does those movements and I’m like ‘where do I go now?’

“Everyone is thinking like ‘how is he doing that?’ He plays so simple, he plays so easy but he always, like, plays so dangerous as well.”

Details of Sterling loan emerge

Arsenal have signed Sterling on a season long loan deal without paying Chelsea a fee.

They are also reported to be paying him just £100,000-a-week, with Chelsea covering the remainder of his £350,000-a-week contract.

“To be here on the last day of the transfer window, to get someone like Raheem Sterling, which I believe will be someone very important for the squad, who is going to give a lot to the team, it’s a pleasure,” the Arsenal chief said.

“To be fair we never planned really to sign him when we started the transfer window, just to be very transparent. For different reasons. But we always say to everyone that you have to be prepared for every single scenario.

“It makes a lot of sense to have someone like him because I’m sure he is going to add a lot in the squad.

“He has experience, he understands more than anyone the league, he’s played in the Champions League many times.

“He won the Premier League a few times as well, so I think he can add a lot to our squad and I feel really happy to see someone like him in our squad.”

Ivan Toney has joined Saudi big-spenders Al-Ahli for £40million.

Prem admirers like Chelsea and Arsenal baulked at Brentford's asking price for the England striker.

Deal sheets in for Sancho AND Sterling

Late swoops don't come much bigger nor more dramatic than this - but here we go ... at the double!

Deal sheets have reportedly gone in for both Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling - thought to be for loan deals.

That means winger Sancho leaving Manchester United for Chelsea.

And the Blues in turn offloading Sterling to Arsenal.

It's thought the Chelsea forward's representatives were still confident a deal could be sorted.

Chelsea have reportedly failed with a late attempt to resurrect a big-money move for Victor Osimhen.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claims the Blues presented a "new proposal" to Napoli just over two hours ago - but to no avail.

Al-Ahli have shown the strongest interest - financially at least - in the Italians' striker this summer.

But it's claimed the Nigerian superstar has reservations over switching to Saudi Arabia aged just 25.

Arsenal and Manchester United are previously thought to have monitored Osimhen's situation.

Romano posted: "NO agreement between Victor Osimhen and Chelsea even after new proposal presented two hours ago."

As we wait to see what happens over Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling, don't forget Ivan Toney!

Brentford accepted a bid of around £40million from Saudi mega spenders Al Ahli for their England striker earlier on today - but no move has been confirmed.

Toney's Prem admirers - thought to have included Chelsea and Arsenal - reportedly baulked at such a fee.

Meanwhile, Manchester United's Jadon Sancho could join Chelsea and the Gunners could pick up Sterling from Stamford Bridge.
